Mr. Okey Odu holds a first Degree in History from the Imo State University, Nigeria. He also holds the associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN), and has done a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. He is also an Associate member of the National Institute of Marketing (AMNIM).

Mr. Odu started his Insurance career with Universal Insurance Company Limited from where he moved to MINET Insurance Brokers. He later became the Insurance officer of Nigeria-Arab Bank (later Assurance Bank). He moved to assume the position of head of marketing at Royal Property and Casualty Assurance (later Royal Trust Assurance).

Mr. Odu, from here joined Standard Alliance Insurance as the pioneer head of brokers marketing unit and rose to become the Regional Director in charge of Eastern Operations. He later rose to the position of General Manager Operations and corporate services.

Mr. Odu has over twenty years of unbroken experience in the insurance industry spanning underwriting, claims management, business development and strategy, product packaging, broking, reinsurance and consultancy.
